Boeing - X-51 WaveRider Program

X-51 WaveRider

The X-51 WaveRider team is focused on developing a free-flying vehicle that will fly longer hypersonically than all of it predecessors combined. Hypersonic speeds are those in excess of Mach 5 (five times the speed of sound).

Lockheed's f-35

Picture of the F35

Establishing air superiority in today's complex global security climate requires the unprecedented capabilities and versatility that only the F-35 Lightning II can offer. Conceived in the mid 1990s, the tri-variant F-35 represents the pinnacle of more than 50 years of fighter development technology. Designed to dominate the skies, the F-35 combines the 5th Generation characteristics of radar evading stealth, supersonic speed and extreme agility with the most powerful and comprehensive integrated sensor package of any fighter aircraft in history.

Rutan's Voyager

Picture of the Voyager aircraft

The Voyager earned its place in history after becoming the first airplane to make a non-stop flight around the world without refueling. The story of the Voyager began when famed aeronautical engineer Burt Rutan formed Scaled Composites and began constructing revolutionary home-built aircraft. His designs, like the VariEze, used advanced aerodynamic concepts and exploited the properties of lightweight composite materials to improve performance.

Rotary Rocket

This is the atmospheric flight test vehicle. The next step is a re-entry grade aeroshell (this one wouldn't take re-entry) and full rotary rocket engines in the bottom. Then it will be a space ship.
